[Synopsis]
It's June 10th, 1989. You are in a coma, having weird, surreal dreams of past experiences, constantly tormenting you in a confusing and blurry way. You can't handle it. You want it to stop. And you'll try to get out of that God forsaken coma, no matter the way or the costs.
Embark on this journey to wake yourself up so you can finally get the revenge you want.
[Description]
- Designed to be able to take place during Jacket's coma during the events of Hotline Miami 1, just prior to him waking up, this 3 floor single level, with 64 enemies, is a "what if" vertical slice of a few moments inside Jacket's mind.
- At the end of the 1st floor you can take the top elevator to go to the 2nd floor OR you can take the bottom one to go to the 3rd floor. This allows you to complete the level in the way you want, but the 3rd floor was designed to be the last.
- This "mini-campaign" is free of any fluff, cutscenes or mods, the storytelling is told by the level design. Said level design was inspired by my personal real life experience working in hospitals in order to build an authentic looking environment and melding it with HM2WN gameplay.
[Install Instructions]
- Steam Workshop:
* "Subscribe" via the Steam Workshop page: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2652839440
- Manual Install:
* Go to the folder where Hotline Miami 2's local editor files are (path should look something like this: \Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami2\Levels\single). Drag and drop the map folder there;
* After that, open Hotline Miami 2 and go to the Editor, then to the SINGLE LEVELS > LOCAL section. The map will appear alongside all other manually installed/locally created levels.
[Notes]
- This is the first actual level I've made and the first one I've released, as I just recently finished both games, got playing around in the Editor and started to figure out how it works. I tried to balance it but still making it challenging, with a reasonably accurate representation of the skill expected at the start of the 1st floor;
- All feedback is encouraged and greatly appreciated!
[Known Issues]
- Sometimes, at random, melee wielding Mafia can go inside the elevator on the 3rd floor if you are inside and aggro them. I have found no way at preventing it as it seems to be a bug with the game itself;
- A specific door on the center-bottom of Floor 2 and the one in the center of Floor 3 have a weird tendency to not open as soon as you walk into them. Troubleshooting this for hours has come up with no solutions.
[Licensing]
- You may freely use this, without asking for permission. Just link the mod Workshop page (and my ArtStation if you can, so I can get an ego boost);
- Repackaged release as a part of another project allowed IF YOU CREDIT ME AND MESSAGE ME ABOUT IT. If you don't, expect a takedown notice from me. Come on, no need to deny someone credit for their hard work.
- Usage of this free-to-use modification requires ownership of a copy of Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. Go buy a copy of the game, support them, they deserve the money.
[Software Used]
